Visions-Ideas Program (VIP)

The Visions-Ideas Program (VIP) was created to allow members of the APU community with Visions and Ideas to obtain funds to make them come to fruition. Proposals are reviewed by the Student Affairs Team (SAT) each month and typically range between $100 and $500.

Criteria for proposals:

  1. Funds should be spent to generally benefit the entire university community.
  2. Sponsorship by a faculty/staff that will monitor the progress of the project. Collaboration between students, faculty, and staff is encouraged.
  3. All proposals should be completed within the semester in which it is proposed.
  4. The purchase of equipment and services improvement that benefit students and the campus community at large will be a priority. (All equipment purchased will be the property of APU*).
  5. Major campus events such as speakers, workshops, slideshows, and celebrations that are open to the entire campus community will be a priority.
  6. Projects and research associated with APU classes will be considered with priority given to projects that result in a benefit to the APU community.

Projects that are typically viewed as unfavorable:

  • Travel for personal/professional development
  • Printing or binding a thesis or class project
  • Registration for conferences or classes
APU Students work on a project

To request funds:

  1. Prepare a written description of your activity, how it falls under the criteria, and address all of the questions on the reverse side of the page.
  2. Have a faculty or staff member sign off in support of your proposal.
  3. Turn in your proposal to the Dean of Students office.
  4. You will be invited to present your request in person at the next SAT meeting.
  5. You will be notified of the decision within two working days after presenting to the SAT.
  6. Receipts and/or money not used must turned into the Dean of Students office upon completion of the project.

*APU reserves the right to use (not own) any images or creations produced by projects funded by the VIP program.

  • Funding for the Alaska Natural History Symposium
  • "Feminist Fair" Women's Studies project
  • Directed Study - Photojournalism/Field Research in Thailand
  • APU Art Shows
  • Help to purchase a keyboard amp for the music room
  • Help Residence Life with a "Mid-Terms to Finals: Making the Grade" - Edit your paper party and Finals Survival kits.
  • A puppet workshop for "We the People" march.
  • Sr. Project Tent Platforms/Campground on APU's campus
  • Supplies for a Refugee Camp Model class project
  • Sr. Project funding - Kayaking from Nome to Kotzebue
  • Funds for a AIDS awareness week on campus
  • Funds for a Alcohol Awareness program on campus
