Intern Partnership Programs

The Intern Partnerships Program provides beneficial links between Alaska Pacific students and participating organizations. Students typically engage in paid work experience to reinforce and expand upon classroom learning.

Students may clarify career and educational goals, while contributing productive activities to the sponsor organizations through real-life task and project assignments. This increases their marketability in the job or graduate school markets. Sponsors, in turn, link to potentially top-notch workers; a key to maintaining their competitiveness.

Sponsor Benefits

• Affordable assistants for special projects.
• Short-term staff who are well-prepared, highly motivated, energetic, dependable.
• Opportunity to preview and evaluate employee candidates with sough-after skills and/or background and education.
• Cost-effective and efficient recruiting tool to meet both immediate and long-range human resource needs.
• Alliance with Alaska Pacific University.

Sponsor Contribution

• Offer work-learning experiences related to students field of study.
• Develop and provide written internship position description which allows for creative problem solving.
• Accept and sign Learning Agreement in order to provide a significant educational experience.
• Provide on-site supervision and scheduled performance feedback, demonstrating genuine interest in integrating students as team member in the organization.
• Complete and return final evaluation of student's performance.

APU Career Services Commitment

• Market positions to students through departments and faculty.
• Recruit and refer qualified intern candidates.
• Provide pertinent information including Data Sheet, Resume, and Transcript.
• Coordinate placement evaluations by sponsor organizations and students
• Assist in development of Learning Agreement.
• Serve as liaison between sponsors, students and faculty.
