On-Campus Student Employment Procedures

  1. Complete Career Services Registration Form through the Career Services Office.
  2. Student Employees must be maintain a minimum course load. Undergraduates need at least 6 credits and Graduate students need at least 5 credits.
  3. Complete initial Application form. If you anticipate applying for more than one position on campus, you may leave these items blank: Position, Date, Dept. Office, Supervisor, Phone #, Financial Aid block, and signature lines.

    Career Services staff will make copies for you and keep the original "Master" in your student worker file, for future use.

  4. To locate positions you are interested in and qualified to do, review Job Postings on boards and/or on the Career Services website: http://class.alaskapacific.edu/career_services/
  5. Complete copy of application, filling in all blanks relative to specific job opening.
  6. Submit completed Application to hiring authority supervisor. (Supervisor will complete selection process, i.e. review applications, interviewing, hiring)
  7. When you are selected, your Supervisor will sign your Application. Bring the signed application to Career Services to complete your Employee Hire and Change Form and the remainder of hiring process.

    You cannot begin work until the EHCF is completed and signed by you, your supervisor and the Career Services Director or designee. It does not matter how long you have been employed at APU.

    Also bring documents that establish Identity and Employment Eligibility. (Examples: Passport, Certificate of U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Driver's License or School I.D., or Voter's Registration Card + U.S. Social Security Card or Birth Certificate)

  8. Complete W-4 and I-9 forms at Career Services Office.
  9. You need to find out from your supervisor how to complete and submit your Time Sheet. Time sheets are usually due on the 1st and the 15th of each month. Pay dates are usually the 10th and the 25th of each month.
  10. On-Campus student employees may not work more than 20 hours per week, regardless of the number of job positions held.
  11. PLEASE do not begin to work, until you have completed all of the necessary paperwork. Doing so may very likely cause a delay in the processing of your paycheck.
