Do Interns work full or part-time?
At this time Interns may work up to 20 hours per week when school is in session and up to 40 hours during breaks. This allows them to fully participate in the Intern Partnership while continuing their studies at APU.
How much are students paid as Interns?
What you pay is something to decide prior to finalizing the Intern Agreement. Students can be compensated in several ways: hourly wage, stipend paid on completion of the internship, housing, board, uniforms, or health insurance. If you choose to pay an hourly wage, please consider a miniumum of $8.00 - $10.00 per hour.
When do students perform their internships?
Most candidates are Juniors, Seniors or in their final year of graduate studies. Student smay choose to complete an internship at anytime during the academic year.
How does the program work?
- Sponsoring employers notify Career Services (link to Career Services General Info pg) of open internship positions at (907) 564-8345 OR student or faculty solicits sponsor for internship.
- Student identifies internship desired and works with APU staff and faculty to approve the placement.
- Student completes sponsor's selection process.
- Intern works with APU and Sponsor to develop Learning Agreement elements. 5. Intern experience commences for time required to fulfill credit hours: 3-12 credit hours at 40-45 hours at placement per credit.
